5 Different Ways To Getting On Ipoh
Ipoh is on the main KL to Butterworth highway road, 205km north of the capital and 164km south of Butterworth. The long-distance bus station is at Medan Gopeng(Jalan Raja Dr Nazrin Shah), 5km south of the city centre and linked by frequent shuttle buses to the city bus station (RM1).  Destinations and standard fares include Alor Setar (RM17), Butterworth (RM10.70), Hat Yai in Thailand (RM35), Johor Bahru (RM37), Kota Bharu (RM25.40), KL(RM13.40), Lumut (RM6) and Melaka (RM22.70).

The city bus station is off a roundabout south of the train station. Buses depart from here for destinations in Perak, such as Batu Gajah (RM1.80), Gopeng (RM1.50; for Kellie's Castle), Kuala Kangsar (RM4.75), Taiping (RM6) and Teluk Intan (RM5.80), as well as Tanah Rata in the Cameron Highlands (RM7.90). Note that buses to Tapah (RM4.70), operated by Regal Transport, depart from a stop across the road from the bus station. Perak Roadways has a separate terminus on Jalan Tun Abdul Razak, with regular buses to Lumut (RM5.60, 1hour 45 minute).

The private Sri Maju bus company has its own bus station on Jalan Bendahara from where it runs luxury buses to KL (RM16, every 45 minutes), Butterworth (RM13.50, nine daily) and Singapore (RM48, six to eight daily).

There are two express bus services by two companies direct from KLIA and KUL to Ipoh and return was called YoYo and Triton, six times daily. The terminal of YoYo located at Jalan Bercham http://www.yoyo.org.my, and the Triton bus station is located at Medan Gopeng http://www.klia2.info/buses/bus-operators/triton-express.

Long-distance taxis depart from in front of the long-distance bus station, and there is another stand at the city bus station. Whole-taxi fares include: Butterworth (RM150),Cameron Highlands (RM100), Ipoh airport (RM12), Kuala Kangsar (RM45), KL(RM160), Lumut (RM70), Taiping (RM70) and Tapah (RM60). From Medan Gopeng into the town centre cost is RM5 to RM10.

Ipoh's Sultan Azlan Shah Airport (IPH) is rather quiet. Firefly operates twice daily flights to and from Terminal 2 of Singapore Changi Airport. Malaysia Airlines (Jalan Sultan Idris Shah) has daily departures to Kuala Lumpur (RM126). To online check air line price or time.

Ipoh is located on the North-South Highway, if you drive by car from Kuala Lumpur and via exit from nearly Ipoh of Simpang Pulai, or you also can via exit from Ipoh South or Jelapang. If you come from Penang then you can via exit from the North-South Highway of Jelapang.  Note that the Ipoh town center grid layout contains mainly one-way streets and traffic light. Ipoh's traffic during heavy traffic such as the morning drive for working times (around 8-9am) and evening after hours of working time (around 5-6pm), Rainy day will be minor jams may occur. Parking spaces are adequate but finding a space may require some patience and you must buy the coupon of parking when park at town or shop front (Public Holiday or Sunday no need to use the parking coupon) excluded shopping center and shopping complex.

Ipoh's train station (Jln Panglima Bukit Gantang Wahab) is on the main Singapore-Butterworth line. There are daily trains to both KL (RM18, 4 hours 30 minute) and Butterworth (RM17, five hours), the latter continuing to Hat Yai in Thailand (RM30, 10 hours).

Upgrading work on the track between Rawang and Ipoh is finally due for completion in 2007, and a rapid intercity service will then link Ipoh with KL. There will be 16 trains a day plying this route
- eventually rising to 32 - travelling at 160km/h. Check the KTM website (www.ktmb.com.my) for updates.
